After arriving in back in Australia in 1996 Matt Crawford quickly established himself as one of Melbourne's most versatile, popular, and well-respected DJs. His styles ranged from Garage & House, through to Progressive House & Trance, & his ability to program & blend his diverse tastes into each set proved to be very popular on Melbourne's dance floors. Now based in Brisbane and championing House music in all its forms, Matt is a regular at clubs in Sydney, Melbourne, The Gold Coast & Perth.
DJing professionally since 1992, Matt (Sydney born) started in Europe playing weekly guest spots at 'Andreas Tenne' in Austria, which led to a residency lasting 4 years. He also played regular guest spots at the 'Applauso' in Portugal. In May 1996 Matt returned to Australia, lived in Melbourne for 8 years & forged a 6 year residency at Melbourne's coolest club, 'Q-Bar'.
In June 1996 Matt helped develop, and then went on to manage Sanity's first Dance Arena in Bourke street Melbourne, until February 1998 when he was approached by HMV and appointed as manager of Dance/ RnB for HMV Australia.
From October 2000 Matt ran Central Station Records Melbourne store for over 2 years. Responsible for promotions, buying, and managing at three of Australia's largest and most successful Dance music retailers, Matt has secured an important & respected position in Australia's Dance music industry.
In Matt's first week in Melbourne he played a guest DJ slot on KISS 90 FMs 'Club Lunch', which lead to him presenting his own weekly mix show, 'Deliverance'. He also joined the programming committee & contributed to production on the stations commercials.
Since 1997 Matt's held residencies at Melbourne's most popular club nights and played at Melbourne's biggest parties and events including Renaissance (UK) tours, Summer Dayze, Two Tribes, Ministry of Sound tours, Gatecrasher tours, Global Underground, & Slinky. As a DJ he has supported touring internationals such as Joey Negro, Timo Maas, Infusion, Seb Fontaine, Dave Seaman, Paul Daley (Leftfield), Oscar G (Funky Green Dogs/ Murk), John Digweed, Sasha, Brian Transeau (B.T.), Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Tall Paul, Judge Jules, Jimmy Van M, Anthony Pappa, Gatecrasher Residents- Scott Bond/ Matt Hardwick & Tom Wainwright, Chicane, Hybrid, Binary Finary, Circulation, and Aurora.
Matt has also done A&R for Australian label X-Over (Jive Electro/ Zomba), & compiled/ licensed tracks for, & mixed the CD 'RUN Volume 1' released on Ultra Violet recordings in 1999, and distributed through Active Distribution. At the turn of the century Matt mixed disk 1 of 'Bang On Vol. 3: Hard Copy' released on Bang On & distributed by Shock records. For over 2 years Matt was a regular contributor to TRM ('Techno Renegade Magazine'). A music journalist and reviewer Matt wrote a 'Progressive House Report' every month, & reviewed current House, and Progressive House music trends and releases.
Passionate about House music, and an energetic and enthusiastic DJ, Matt strives to support the Dance Music industry, and keep dance floors grooving.
